7 & 8 Sept 2014 Bermuda

7 Sept 2014: Bermuda

Well, what a day we had, full of fun and unexpected, things.First of all our plans had to change because we missed the ferry to Hamilton because the crew only got off late!!So then we decided to catch a bus to Horseshoe Bay, before we carry on to Hamilton. There is no ferry to St Georges on a Sunday and  90% of shops are closed.

Just after we got going and were about 3 miles from Horsehoe Bay , we got caught up in a car pile-up!! So there we sat!! This bus had no aircon, so we were sweating big time, all the windows were open, not that it helped!! Eventually the bus driver told us that we would be stuck for another 30min because they were busy moving 2 pre-fab houses on a truck, and they can only do it on Sundays when the island is not so busy.

Hubby is not the most patient person I know, so he said come, let’s walk, not too far!!!! And the driver said if they do get going and he sees us, he will pick us up, again. So of we went in the heat. Not too far down the road we passed the 2 big houses on the trucks that were causing the chaos. Will post the pics. Then we saw a garage with a café so in we went just to get a few refreshments!!

We had just left the café when with lots of luck on our side, our bus stopped at the bus stop right next to the cafe, soooo on we got again. Thank goodness we did, for the 3 miles felt like 5 and in very hot weather, would have been tough. Had been told that there is a hill that you have to go down to Horse Shoe Bay and sure enough can understand why they call it, cardiac hill coming up!!! They even have people with scooters that you pay $2 for a lift to the top of the hill.

Had a giggle when they had a sign that said, this might be the best $2 that you spend all day!! The best was still to come when we came around the corner and there was the most beautiful long beach, stretched out in front of us. The water crystal blue and quite something must admit awesome sight.

There we spent 2 hours swimming and exploring the coves and pools. Very glad we decided to make a stop at the most famous beach in Bermuda. The beach with the pink sand. Tried to get a picture of the pink sand but the sun was too bright, could not get it captured on camera. After our time on this lovely beach it was time to hit Cardiac Hill!!! To catch the next bus to Hamilton. We made it, on our own!!!

In Hamilton most of the shops were also closed, so we just walked around, popped in at a local supermarket because hubby was hungry, poor guy had not had breakfast, so he was starving. At 5 we caught the ferry back to Dock Yard after a lovely day .Eers rustig gery tot buite wake zone en daarna toe maak daardie ferry enjins oop en spuit weer daardie wit water uit en laat waai, nogal n lekker gevoel.

Dwelms glo n lewenslange straf.

Mooi bly
