9 Okt 2014: Bar Harbor
Arrived in Bar Harbor early this morning on a beautiful
autumn day, 11 degrees outside with a chilly wind blowing but not too bad.
First it was time to go through immigration but that went smoothly. Then it was
time to hit the tender boats!! For my last trip to land in one of them. Once on
the docks I decided to go for a walk on a special pathway called, Shore Path
that is more than a century old and goes on for nearly a mile ,along the ocean.
It was absolutely beautiful passing all these huge homes
with rolling green lawns, chairs and benches to sit on, to enjoy the view and
the ocean, was definitely my highlight today. Got to a huge rock that the
locals call Balance Rock, and ended up here through a glazier. Words can’t
really describe the feeling ,the smell , the view, the wind, the leaves all
over ,all I can say is, special, a privilege.
My next stop was the very upmarket Harborside Hotel and
Marina, there I could get out of the chilly wind and was fantastic to sit in the
foyer in front of a huge wooden fire, absolute heaven! A glass of wine would
have been the cherry on the top! Anyway there I got stuck for at least 2 hours
then I decided it was time to get back to the ship, so off I went.
Have to share this story, I heard from a passenger, when she
got back to her room last night her shoe lace got stuck in the door and jammed
the door, all she could do was leave the shoe behind and go and look for help
with only one shoe!!! Needless to say everyone found this story very funny and
told her they probably don’t have to check for ID because the other shoe will
be enough evidence of who the owner is!!
So my trip to Boston, Bermuda and Canada has also come to an
end and what a journey it has been. Nine wonderful weeks with hubby, seeing
places that we never ever would have seen, if it was not for this new job.
Tomorrow we are back in Boston and then it is time for the long journey HOME.
So until next time, goodbye, for those family and friends
that have been following my blog, hope you have enjoyed it, please forgive all
my wrong tenses and spelling mistakes, my dear mother says I should start
playing scrabble!!!!
THE END/DIE EINDE
